Please do not misuse coupons

It seems that a lot of people are having a hard time understanding Walmart's new coupon policy. There has been a lot of problems with people arguing with cashiers to take their coupons, unfortunately, a lot of the couponer's are being misinformed about what they can and can not do. This results in the manufacturer's that release the coupons getting angry and fed up with people and start sending out coupons with a lesser value or none at all. This affects all of us couponers.

I wanted to point out a few things from the walmart coupon policy that I think a lot of people are getting confused about.

You can not use a Target Web coupon for a dollar amount off.

*unless it says at the top "manufacturer coupon"

most Target Web coupons say "Target Web Coupon"

The only way that you can use there is if it say states that you can get a specific item for a specific amount ( so basically just price matching)

This is the type of competitor coupon that you can use. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Walgreens coupon, but it has to give a specific price for the item.

You CAN NOT use one of these coupons. The coupon says that you can take $1.00 off with the purchase of two Kashi snack items.

It does not give a specific amount that the item will be, and the coupon is to be used specifically at Target.

As far as the coupons that they DO accept

I know that it sounds confusing, especially if you are just getting started with couponing, but the key to being a successful couponer is to make sure that you read, read, read. Make sure that you are not using the coupon for the wrong product or wrong size. Just because a coupon will scan for a certain product doesn't mean that it was intended to use on that product. I know that there have been times that I have accidently handed a cashier a coupon for something that I didn't even purchase and before I could take it back it would scan and take the money off. I would, of course have her remove it from the transaction, but the point is that it scanned successfully even though I didn't buy the specific item. Please do not abuse this glitch in the system. Coupons are becoming more scarce, and the ones that do still appear are becoming less and less appealing. It is frustrating to all of the people that play by the rules to be punished for the wrong doings of others. And arguing with retailers about the rules is only going to make the rules more strict.
